I Guessed Miss Universe 2008 Correctly!

Congratulations to Miss Dayana Mendoza of Venzuela, the new crowned Miss Universe 2008! Now don’t laugh, but when I was a child, my mother used to guess correctly on beauty pageant winners almost every time, and it seems that now I have inherited her ability, too. Last night, after watching the last half an hour of the pageant, when the judges whittled the contenders down to two, my gut said that Miss Venezuela would be the winner. Why? For one, I believe she had on a better gown than Miss Columbia. It also didn’t hurt that she enthusiastically talked about her seemingly idyllic family life.

I was surprised to see Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori walk out in only a black pantsuit and no crown. That was a bit of a let down, considering that it should have been her last, glorious walk. But I’m sure this will not be her last good-bye, as she is a beautiful lady who will go places.
